We partner with Siebein Acoustics
Siebein Associates, Inc. is a leading acoustical consulting firm established in 1981 with an office in Gainesville, Florida. We have a broad range of diverse experience in acoustical design and research that enables us to provide state-of-the-art consulting services. We specialize in the design of spaces for natural acoustic and amplified performances in many venues. We have pioneered the use of advanced acoustical measuring systems to evaluate acoustical challenges in rooms as well as computer modeling methods to assess prospective design solutions. We provide computerized design calculations and model studies for proposed designs and sound system layouts as part of our basic services. We also have the equipment to perform field measurements in conformance with ANSI, ASTM, ISO and other standards for most acoustic situations in existing buildings.
We are a growing company with trained professionals that have significant educational and project experience in each of the specialty areas of acoustics, architecture, engineering, and management. Senior Principal Consultant, Gary W. Siebein, FASA, FAIA founded the firm to bring the advanced acoustical modeling, measuring, predicting and evaluation tools developed in his university research laboratory to truly value engineer acoustical systems in a wide variety of actual building acoustic and environmental noise projects.
We have received awards for research and acoustical design from the American Institute of Architects, the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture, the National Council of Acoustical Consultants and Progressive Architecture.
Since 1981 we have worked on over 1,400 challenging projects that make us one of the premier acoustical consulting firms in the United States.
Mr. Siebein has over 30 years of experience in all phases of architectural and acoustical design from conceptualization to construction administration and post occupancy studies for a variety of building types. He provides design expertise for architectural acoustics, sound system design, noise control and environmental noise for visual and performing arts spaces, studios, classrooms, laboratories, faculty and administrative offices, dining areas, and exhibition galleries among numerous others to develop cutting edge, yet practical solutions for natural and amplified sound enhancement and noise mitigation.
Through a combination of acoustical research and a comprehensive understanding of architecture, he can optimize design solutions that are both creative and value-engineered. He is familiar with acoustical challenges that many projects are confronted with and has the skills, knowledge, and experience to address critical design factors such as:
Room volume, shape, materials, and textures for superior natural
Sound isolation between rooms to maintain a quiet, contemplative
Acoustical treatment for variable acoustic systems Mechanical System

Mr. Siebein is also a tenured professor in the School of Architecture at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida where he directs a graduate program in building and environmental acoustics. He has specialized in research to measure, model, predict and simulate the acoustical qualities of performance spaces and other complex buildings and has pioneered the use of advanced measuring systems to evaluate difficult acoustical problems in audio systems and rooms as well as computer modeling methods to assess prospective design solutions.
Professor Siebein rapidly transfers state-of-the-art technologies developed through the ongoing research of Masters and PhD students in his laboratory at the University of Florida into consulting practice allowing clients access to the most recent innovations in acoustical design and analysis techniques. He works from a large database of over 1400 projects which enables him to refine acoustical processes and techniques and optimize design solutions that are creative and value-engineered. Clients include award winning architects, NASA, Disney, Universal Studios, the FBI, Department of Homeland Security, many performing arts groups, and the most prestigious developers in the southeast.
He is a registered architect in the State of Florida, a fellow of the American Institute of Architects and the Acoustical Society of America, and a member of the National Council of Acoustical Consultants, Institute of Noise Control Engineers, American Society for Testing and Materials, and the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers. He has received awards for research and acoustical design from the AIA, ACSA, NCAC and P/A.
Mr. Siebein holds a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Architecture from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (cum laude), and a Masters of Arts degree in Architecture from the University of Florida. He has written five books, 17 book chapters, over 150 technical papers and has lectured to many professional groups on the subject of architectural and environmental acoustics.
